The federal government has announced a fresh reduction in petroleum prices across Pakistan, lowering petrol by Rs4.08 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs2.45 per litre. The revised rates took effect nationwide on Tuesday, August 4.
Under the latest notification, the price of petrol has fallen from Rs336.03 to Rs331.95 per litre, while high-speed diesel has been reduced from Rs392.38 to Rs389.93 per litre.

The reduction follows a decline in international oil prices and changes in global market conditions. Pakistan’s fuel prices have remained highly sensitive to international crude rates, exchange-rate movements and regional uncertainty during 2026.
Although the latest cut provides some relief to motorists and transport operators, fuel remains expensive for many households and businesses. Lower petroleum prices may reduce transportation expenses slightly, but a major decrease in food prices, fares and other daily costs is unlikely unless fuel rates continue to fall.
The government is currently reviewing petroleum prices more frequently to respond to rapid changes in global energy markets. Consumers should therefore follow official notifications because prices may be revised again.
